About Us

Recycling Is Personal To Me

I have been practicing environmental stewardship for years by recycling, composting, and cutting back on water and paper products. Even before I knew how the world is being used up. So, re-cycled products are a natural addition to Fran Travis, The Shirt LadyThe Shirt Lady’s line of clothing and promotional products.

Our new green line will make the smallest environmental footprint possible. Even our packaging is 100% re-cycled paper. The inks and coatings emit virtually no inorganic compounds. And you won’t find inserts, laminates or plastic.

The Shirt Lady has always offered a vast array of promotional products, ranging from apparel to golf balls and leather-bound portfolios. Regardless of the manufacturer, our chief concerns are quality and your satisfaction.

How Can You Help

Ultimately we will see that the future of the planet rests surely on the attitudes of each individual.

  1. Change a light. Compact florescent light bulbs 60% less energy than regular bulbs.

  2. Adjust your thermostat.  Moving your thermostat down 2” in the winter and up 2” the summer could save as much 2 thousand pounds of carbon dioxide.

  3. Drive less and slow down.  Almost one third of the carbon dioxide produced in the United States comes from cars, trucks and airplanes.  Walk, bike, and take mass transit more often.  Try telecommuting from home or car sharing.

  4. Drive efficiently. Regular car maintenance and proper tire inflation helps improve fuel efficiency and reduces emissions. Keep your car tuned up and check your tires weekly to be sure they are properly inflated. Stay at 55 miles per hour when ever possible.

  5. Use less hot water.  Install a low flow shower head and wash your clothes in cold or warm water.  Keep a bucket near the shower and catch any over flow water and use it to water plants.

  6. Turn off and unplug electronics.  Simply turning off your television, stereo and computer when they not in use saves thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide a year. Unplugging these items increases that number.

  7. Recycle and buy recycled products, recycling half of your household waste saves 2,400 of carbon dioxide a year. It takes 70 to 90% less energy to make recycled paper and it prevents the loss of forests world-wide. When ever possible, buy recycled products.  You will see throughout this website the opportunity to buy recycled pens, rulers, tote bags to take to the grocery store, and a myriad of other assorted products.  Take advantage of this wherever you go!

  8. Buy energy efficient appliances.  Look for the Energy Star label on new appliances to choose the most efficient models.

  9. Insulate and weatherize you home.  Properly insulating you walls and ceilings can save 25% of you home heating bills and 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. Caulking and weather stripping can save another 1,700 pounds per year. Switch to green power.

  10. Switch to green power.  Visit http://www.eere.energy.gov/greenpower/ to see if there are options in your area for switching to energy generated by clean, renewable sources such as wind and solar.

  11. Plant a tree. A single tree absorbs one ton of carbon dioxide over a life time.
